BRANDING
Brand Guidelines
Bizarre from birth
kirinsan.inc exists in a corner of the internet as “that odd company that does a bit of everything.” Built on modern design, minimalism, and playfulness, our brand has a taste for unique expressions with an edge.
These guidelines set out the rules for expressing and maintaining our strange yet consistent world, and for protecting the value of our brand.
Naming & Writing RulesWriting rules
We have strict naming rules to avoid confusion over our company and brand names. Pay particular attention to the required “株式会社” prefix or 「.inc」 suffix, and to the restrictions on writing our name in hiragana.
- kirinsan.incOfficial English name (recommended)
- k.incShort English name (minimal form)
- 株式会社kirinsanOfficial Japanese name
- (株)kirinsanShort Japanese name
- きりんさん“きりんさん” is the title of an open-source children’s song by
kirinsan.org, so it must never be used as a brand name for our company. - kirinsankirinsan on its own can cause confusion between our company (
kirinsan.inc) and other organizations (kirinsan.org), so this usage is prohibited. Always include.incor the “株式会社” prefix.
Logo RegulationsSymbol guidelines
Our symbol represents our identity. Use it without changing its shape, aspect ratio, or color.
Logo CombinationsCombining the symbol and logotype
These rules apply when combining the symbol and logotype. Color changes are permitted within a monochrome palette. Our recommended combinations are black on white, black on the brand color, or white on black. Choose the appropriate variation for the application and background.
Horizontal layout (fixed / golden-ratio proportions)
The ratio between the giraffe symbol’s diameter and the lettering height, as well as the spacing, must strictly maintain the golden ratio. Use the artwork as supplied, without alteration.
Horizontal (white background)
Our basic, standard combination. Use on white or light backgrounds.
Horizontal (brand-color background)
A recommended combination that pairs a bold black logo with our fluorescent yellow-green brand color.
Horizontal (white on black)
A white version of the logo for black or dark backgrounds.
Vertical layout (adjustable within balance rules)
The vertical layout is a secondary logo that emphasizes the symbol. Keep sufficient vertical space between the symbol and lettering.
Vertical (white background)
A black symbol and black logotype arranged vertically on a light background.
Vertical (brand-color background)
A black symbol and black logotype on a brand-color background.
Vertical (white on black)
A white symbol and white logotype on a dark background.
Stroke RegulationsStroke guidelines
These strict rules apply when adding a stroke (outline) to the symbol and logotype. Follow them to preserve the brand’s visual strength and legibility.
- 01
Stroke width: at least 10% of the logo size
For legibility, the stroke width must be at least 10% of the overall logo size. Extremely thin strokes are not permitted.
- 02
Keep the circular outline and solid fill
When adding a stroke to the symbol, apply it only to the outer circle and keep the giraffe inside solid. Do not turn the giraffe into line art.
- 03
Apply a matching stroke to the logotype
When placed alongside the logotype (
kirinsan.inc), apply a stroke of equivalent thickness to the lettering too to maintain visual consistency between the symbol and text.

RECOMMENDED Correct circular stroke (at least 10% thick, with a matching stroke on the lettering)
AVOID Discouraged / prohibited (extremely thin strokes, giraffe line art, or no matching stroke on the lettering)
Incorrect UsageProhibited logo usage
To protect our brand identity, distortion, unnecessary color changes, rotation, and excessive effects are strictly prohibited. With limited exceptions, strokes are permitted only when the symbol is combined with typography. Do not add an outer stroke to the standalone symbol.
Changing the aspect ratio
Unnecessary color changes
Tilting or rotating
Excessive drop shadows or effects
Adding a stroke to the standalone symbol
